At last!

Sam has been waiting for this moment for what feels like forever! His friends had all lost several teeth and he never seemed to even get the tiniest wiggle out of his cute baby teeth. That all changed at his last dentist appointment. I asked the dentist if it seemed like any of his teeth were coming close to making their exit and to Sam's delight, she pointed out one that did seem to be a little looser than the rest.

We set to work wiggling and wiggling that tooth whenever we could. Sam even took to eating whole apples to try to hurry the process along. A little over a month or so later, while eating a hot dog, Sam noticed that his tooth had become very loose and we knew that we were almost there. He went to soccer practice that night where he did little but stand there, playing with his tooth. We promised his coach that we would get that tooth out by the next morning so that Sam could focus on the game instead of his mouth.

After about 10 or so minutes at home the tooth was out! Sam was able to pull it out himself. Off to bed he went, plotting to catch the Tooth Fairy and take all of her money. That tricky Tooth Fairy did come and managed to escape without Sam even batting an eyelash. She even left him $5. Very generous, if I do say so myself.

I can't believe how much one missing tooth has changed Sam's look for me. He already seems so much older. It makes me sad to see my first born getting so old and I know that this is only just the beginning...
